NYT Attorney- Ken Starr?!?

So a story buried in the Times today

Times Sues Prosecutor on Phone Records (Sub Required, I think)

discusses the efforts by federal prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, to examine NYT phone records related to the advanced reporting of a raid on an Islamic charity. The story is pretty interesting, but what caught my eye was this line (bold mine):

In a letter in August to Mr. Comey, two lawyers for The Times, Floyd Abrams and Kenneth W. Starr, wrote that the records the government seeks, for some 20 days in the fall of 2001, might reflect hundreds of communications between the reporters and their sources "on a vast array of vitally important and controversial matters."

Ken Starr is an attorney for the New York Times?  Does that make anyone else uncomfortable? Am I overreacting?
